Roseville City School District

Students Learn Here!

The Roseville City School District (RCSD) serves more than 10,000 transitional kindergarten through eighth grade students in 18 unique schools. Offering specialized programs such as International Baccalaureate (IB), GATE, AVID, Career Technical Education (CTE)  courses, art and music education, the District focuses on maximizing student achievement while exceeding parents' expectations. Several campuses within the District have earned prestigious awards such as California Distinguished School and National Blue Ribbon School. Learn more about us here.
We're making significant investments in our children by continually investing in our people, programs and infrastructure.

These district-wide improvements are aligned with our Board of Education's goals and parent recommendations from the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) survey. Thank you to parents, caretakers, and the community for being our partners in education! See our State of the District graphic here
Welcome to Our
Newest Principals!
Kirsten Acke will become Thomas Jefferson Elementary School’s principal starting in the 2016/17 school year. Most recently, she served as principal of a preschool-5th grade school in San Juan Unified School District. She has nearly 20 years experience in education and has held positions, such as a vice principal and teacher on special assignment, focusing on Professional Learning and Innovation. She also has 15 years classroom experience, and her areas of strength include literacy, instructional coaching, and extensive knowledge of our state’s newest standards. She was recognized by her former district as Teacher of the Year in 2011.

Kirsten grew up in Placer County and is an alumna of our district! She graduated from W. T. Eich Middle School (Go Wildcats!),and Oakmont High School. She received a Bachelor’s degree from Humboldt State and is finishing her master’s degree at the University of LaVerne.

She lives in Rocklin with her husband, David, a school psychologist, and her daughter, Jordan (17) and son, Austin (13).

We’d like to thank Principal Brent Mattix for his service to our district and wish him all the best in his new position as the Activities Director at Roseville High School.

Angela Turry will become Diamond Creek Elementary School’s principal starting in the 2016/17 school year. She most recently served as principal at Pearson 6th Grade Center in Shakopee, Minnesota, where she led a personalized learning pilot program. Prior to that, she served as dean of students and a classroom teacher. She loves building relationships with students and families, and being in classrooms to support learning.

Angela is excited to be moving to California, closer to her fiancé, Chris, and his two children, Riley (5) and Rocco (3), who live in Roseville.

She is a Minnesota native, attended the University of Minnesota for all of her schooling (Go Gophers!), and is excited for this new adventure in California, with no more sub-zero winters! Principal Turry is excited to meet her new students and families at Diamond Creek!

We’d like to extend a fond farewell to Principal Marty Brown, who has served our district for 19 years, and as Diamond Creek’s only principal since the school opened in 2001. We wish Mr. Brown and his family all the best in what retirement has to offer!

Woodbridge Principal Martha Paso joined our principal team earlier this year after the retirement of Principal Kari Hazen. Prior to becoming a Woodbridge Woodchuck, Mrs. Paso was an assistant principal at Antelope High School in the Roseville Joint Union High School District. She has been in education for more than 20 years, having served as a Business and Spanish teacher and program specialist. She earned a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from CSU Stanislaus and returned to school to earn her administrative credential and master’s degree. Mrs. Paso has a passion for continuous learning and sharing that knowledge with students.

She has two children, Erica (25) and Rich (21), and two stepchildren, Kylie (16) and Collin (13). When she’s not learning at Woodbridge, she enjoys bike riding, Zumba and yoga!

We’d like to sincerely thank Principal Kari Hazen for her service to our Woodbridge families and students. We know she’s already enjoying the first few months of retirement.

Ground Breaking!

Construction of our 19th school is underway and it was celebrated with a ground breaking ceremony on April 28th, 2016. The TK-5 school is located within the Westpark Community of Roseville and will open for the 2017/18 school year. The school will be named later this year. The event was attended by City of Roseville Mayor Carol Garcia, City Manager Rob Jensen, Placer County Supervisor Jack Duran, and many other guests who have helped with this project. Thank you to the developer Westpark and Roebbelen Contracting, Inc. for partnering with our District to ensure future students will have a neighborhood school ready! Oakmont IB Students Volunteer at Crestmont Elementary

Congratulations to Oakmont High School IB students who were presented with a Youth Impact Award for taking part in the “Viking Visitor” tutoring program with Crestmont Elementary students. Since last fall, these generous high school students have been coming to Crestmont every Thursday to help third graders (future Vikings!) with math and reading. Because of the great experiences this year, the new program plans to expand to Sargeant Elementary in the fall. Thank you, Vikings!

Run4Roseville Recap

This year’s fundraiser was our largest yet, with more than 1,600 participants and nearly $45K raised! The morning was full of activity with the 1 Mile, 5K, Principal Dash and Lil Ones Dash, along with vendor food and freebies. Our Foundation presented a $90,000 check to the District to implement a new district-wide music education program. In addition, the Foundation committed to contribute another $30,000 per year moving forward.

Thank you to our sponsors, vendors, parents, and a slew of volunteers who make this event possible, such as the Roseville and Woodcreek Cheerleaders and Woodcreek Track. Thank you to Principal Brandon Blom and Sami Kader for emceeing the event. Mark your calendar for April 23, 2017 for the next Run4Roseville at Maidu Community Center. Superintendent’s Corner

Hi Parents and Community Members,

Roseville City School District is a community of 18 -- soon to be 19 -- elementary and middle schools serving more than 10,000 students. As superintendent, it is my goal to ensure that every decision we make as educators is centered around our students.

We work closely with parents to listen and understand what they value most in education and implement their feedback.

For example, based upon parent recommendations, we are introducing a district-wide Music Education Program, which engages students in a weekly music class. In addition, we have reduced TK-3rd grade class sizes and are planning to offer every middle school student an option to learn a world language.

I am honored to serve as superintendent alongside an incredibly talented team of teachers, support staff, and administrators. We support their pursuit of lifelong learning by offering meaningful professional development opportunities, all aimed to benefit student learning.
I invite you to learn more about our District at If you have any questions or comments, please contact me at 916.771.1600 or

Derk Garcia
