I was born on Friday the 13th of November in Sacramento, CA.
I guess that would explain my love for middle school students and
all their quirky behaviors. My father was a teacher at Mather AFB
in Rancho Cordova and I have fond memories of being able to help dad
“teach” his third graders when I was young. When he decided to go
into administration, our family was uprooted and moved around the
state. I have lived in Wasco, CA, Yuba City, CA, and completed my
high school education in Willits, CA. After finishing high school,
I enrolled at St. Mary’s College of California in Moraga, and earned
my bachelor’s degree in psychology. I wasn’t too sure what career I
wanted to pursue and worked in San Francisco first for an investment
banking firm, and then for an outsourcing company. When I found I
spent most of my free time volunteering with local adolescent
groups, I decided to go into teaching.
I started my career as a 7th
and 8th grade Language Arts and Social Studies teacher in
the Elk Grove Unified School District. While I was completing my
administrative credential courses, I was fortunate to be given the
opportunity to work as an administrator at James Rutter Middle
School in Elk Grove. After completing my credential and Master’s
degree from Sac State, I moved to Roseville and was offered a
position as Assistant Principal at Cooley Middle School. I was asked to fill the position of Assistant Principal here at
Buljan after the former AP was appointed Principal of Eich
Intermediate.
I am
very proud to be a member of the Buljan family and look forward to
working with you and your student this year.
