"Every student learns everyday.”
Thomas Jefferson Mission:
We believe students learn best when the environment is affectively and physically safe.
When this is accomplished, all students:
- are treated fairly and with respect
- are known by the adults in the school community
- feel loved, cared for, and safe
- are heard
We believe students learn best when the school works towards achieving goals and objectives.
When this is accomplished, all students:
- know what the learning objective is in alignment with curriculum standards
- are engaged in a curriculum that scaffolds learning in a continuum
- are responsible for their learning, develop strategies for improvement and celebrate successes along the way
- have a clear understanding of the criteria for achievement
We believe students learn best when there are common learning philosophies held and guiding principles implemented by the adults who teach them. (Staff and parents)
When this is accomplished, students:
- are believed to be capable of learning
- engage in different modalities to achieve understanding
- have choice embedded in instruction
- needs are met through differentiation of instruction based on assessment results
- are the focus of a strong home-school partnership
- experience community members and parents as a part of the teaching/learning environment
- see themselves as contributing citizens of a local, national and world society
