Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
Simply stated, we had no idea the impact COVID-19 would have on our day-to-day lives. Families and school districts are working through the scenarios of how schools will operate in August and beyond. While I believe there is no substitution for a highly qualified teacher being in front of students daily, I realize this may not be an option for some. I believe every family must do what best suits their circumstance.
Notice of Public Hearing
The Placer County Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) Council of Superintendent’s (COS) has scheduled a Public Hearing for the purpose of reviewing the Annual Budget Plan and Annual Service Plan for the Local Education Agencies in the Placer County SELPA as required by Education Code Section 56205(b)(1)(2).

Thank you for organizing your household and your children to take on distance learning. There were thousands of children online this week, engaging in quality lessons and using many technology tools. My children were busy learning about Ancient China, cause and effect, using the metric system, PE activities, and animal adaptations. RCSD Student Device Loaner Program and Dates
In order to provide the best continuous learning education if the schools are closed longer than April 14th, we will be checking out mobile device(s) to any TK-8th grade students who do not have access to a device at home for online learning opportunities, or if a family has multiple students having to share a single device.

Please remember that we have added Caresolace.com as a unique service that will allow everyone a way to reach out for mental health and wellness support. CareSolace is a care navigation and coordination system that makes it simple and easy for anyone in the RCSD community to get the right help in seconds.

These are unprecedented times. As a District, we are working through issues I’ve never experienced in my 24-year career in public education. I want to provide you with a few updates based on the information we have right now. The Roseville City School District Office and all schools will be closed from March 18 – April 13, 2020, in compliance with guidance from Placer County Health and the State of California. All essential employees (district management, principals, and teachers) are working remotely and available to assist you with questions or concerns via email.

RCSD Free Meals During School Closure
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as our community takes unprecedented measures in response to help slow the spread of COVID-19. We are aware the closure of schools can bring added stress to families. In an effort to help alleviate a small portion, we have implemented the following to allow Food Services to continue, free of charge, for all children age 18 and under.

District-Wide Closure Effective March 16, 2020
Based on guidance from Placer County Public Health, Placer County Office of Education, and in consultation with our School Board Members, we are closing all RCSD schools effective Monday, March 16th due to increased risk of community spread of COVID-19. Additionally, all schools in Placer County will be closed during this time period.

Coronavirus (COVID-19)
All Roseville City School District schools are open. In accordance with Executive Order N-25-20, signed by Governor Newsom last night, we are determining our essential and non-essential functions to slow the community spread of COVID-19. Public education is deemed an essential function by the State of California; however, activities outside of the school day may be considered non-essential.

At this time, based on information provided by the Placer County Health Officials, all RCSD schools remain open.
Later this afternoon, there will be a call with Placer County Health to discuss any updates or new information in regards to COVID-19. We will communicate any changes that impact students, parents, or staff over the next two days. We appreciate your flexibility as we attempt to make the best decisions possible for our children and families based on current information.

The Placer County Health Department declared a move from containment to community mitigation to combat COVID-19 on March 9, 2020. The move is intended to protect our most vulnerable populations – the elderly and those with underlying medical conditions. The safety of students, staff, and community continues to be our highest priority. We care deeply about all RCSD students, families, and staff and will continue to share information and decisions in a timely manner. Starting tomorrow, the Roseville City School District will provide daily communication to our families regarding COVID-19 (also known as Coronavirus) on our district website (www.rcsdk8.org). Update: Coronavirus (COVID-19)
We each play a role in keeping our community healthy and safe. We understand folks may feel some anxiety about COVID-19 (coronavirus), especially with the first confirmed case in Placer County, but there are simple ways to turn that anxiety into action. Members of the general public and our school communities should continue their efforts to reduce the spread of respiratory illnesses including COVID-19 by washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, cover your cough or sneeze, stay home if you are sick and continue to disinfect frequently touched surface

RCSD to Implement New Visitor Management Procedure
The Roseville City School District is pleased to announce that we will begin using a visitor management system in all of our school buildings in January 2020 when school opens after Winter Break.
The system will better allow us to track visitors, contractors, and volunteers in our schools and provide us with a safer, monitored environment for our students and staff.
Proposed Middle School Boundaries
The Roseville City School District is considering boundary changes to all four middle schools.
