Superintendent's Message - September 2017

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year:

These are exciting times in the Roseville City School District.  More than 10,000 TK – 8th grade children arrive every day ready to learn in one of our nineteen safe and caring schools.  Teachers and classified staff are working diligently to provide meaningful learning opportunities for every child.  Parents are actively engaged in their school communities.  All indicators are pointing in a positive direction for Roseville City.

Two years ago we increased the number of Transitional Kindergarten classes offered throughout the district, reduced student-to-teacher ratios in all of our Transitional Kindergarten through 3rd grade classes to a school average of 24:1, added a counselor at all of our middle schools, provided additional staff members at our three Title I schools in order to provide direct support to students and families, implemented a new math curriculum, and hired additional personnel within the Maintenance and Operations Department in order to keep our schools beautiful and well-maintained.

Last year we launched a new elementary music education program for every Kindergarten – 5th grade student, provided an upgraded wireless network infrastructure at every site, introduced a new Student Management System (PowerSchool), implemented a new K-5 English Language Arts curriculum, and completed construction on Orchard Ranch Elementary School in West Roseville.

This year we’ve added Spanish at all four middle schools as a means to provide additional learning opportunities and better prepare our students for high school and beyond.

As a District, we will continue to invest in our children by investing in the people, programs, and infrastructure.  I hope each of you have a wonderful school year!
