Roseville City School District

Parent and Staff Communication: April 3, 2020
RCSD School Closures Extended to June 30, 2020

Article

Thank you for your patience and collaboration as we transition for our classroom-based instruction to a continuous learning model.  Our teachers and staff are working diligently to make the learning experiences engaging and meaningful for your children from April 14 – May 29, 2020.

Unfortunately, we’ve reached a point where it is clear that we are not able to bring students back to school this academic year.  According to Placer County Health Officer Dr. Aimee Sisson, “Based on modeling of the COVID-19 outbreak in California and in Placer County, it will not be safe for students to return to school in a traditional in-person model through the end of May and into early June.” Governor Newsom and State Superintendent of Public Instruction Thurmond echoed these sentiments earlier in the week.  Therefore, with a heavy heart, the Roseville City School District Board of Education decided to close all schools for in-person instruction through June 30, 2020.

However, this does not mean the school year is over.  Teaching and learning will continue.  Technology support and lunch service will continue.   Communication will continue.  Our love and support for you and your children will continue.  Please tell your children how much we miss them.  We can’t wait to see them in person this August.

Please access the Parent Resources tab at the RCSD Continuous Learning Page for information related to Food and Nutrition Services, Technology Resources, Mental Health and Wellness, Community Resources, and all District Communications.  All teachers, administrators, and district office staff are working remotely.  Please reach out to any of us by email if you have any questions or concerns.

Finally, please adhere to all public health guidelines.  The safety of our community depends on our collective actions.  May you and your family remain safe and well.

Respectfully,

Derk Garcia
Superintendent

P.S. Lunch service will continue at Buljan Middle School, Eich Middle School, Cirby Elementary School, and Woodbridge Elementary School during Spring Break except for Friday, April 10.  We plan to serve enough food for two lunches and two breakfasts on Thursday, April 9.
