Roseville City School District

Parent and Staff Communication: March 10, 2020
Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Article

The Placer County Health Department declared a move from containment to community mitigation to combat COVID-19 on March 9, 2020.  The move is intended to protect our most vulnerable populations – the elderly and those with underlying medical conditions. For more information about the most recent Placer County Health Department’s recommendations, please click on the link: https://www.placer.ca.gov/6454/Recommend-COVID-19-mitigation.

In response to the change from containment to community mediation, we’ve instituted recommended changes to absences, overnight field trips, out-of-state field trips, and attendance precautions at school events.  We appreciate your flexibility and understanding as decisions are made in the best interest of our children and staff in consultation with Placer County Health.

At this time, based on information provided by the Placer County Health Officials,  all RCSD schools remain open.

School Closure Notifications

In the event a decision is made to close a school, you will be notified by email.   If a school closure occurs, please be aware the City of Roseville will also cancel Adventure Club at that site. We do ask that you please start thinking about and planning for extended child care.

School day and Evening events

Please reference this document from the California Department of Public Health.  The Roseville City School District is still operating within Scenario II. Specifically, at this time the District will be canceling all overnight field trips and out-of-state conferences from now until Spring Break.  Other scheduled events should continue as planned until otherwise notified.

We desire to keep our afterschool events open to our families.  However, we all have a responsibility to self-monitor and keep our community safe.   Therefore, we ask that you do not attend a school or community event if you have any symptoms or were sick in the 14-days prior to the event.  High-risk groups and those with underlying medical conditions should reconsider their attendance at our events as well to avoid crowded social groups that can not assure applicable social distancing.

We are evaluating our mitigating measures on a day-by-day basis.  If there is an increase in risk the next steps would be to cancel all field trips, Open House, musicals, athletics, student performances, and all after school events.  Please be prepared as we may need to cancel on very short notice. If a decision is made to cancel an event(s), we will contact you by email.

Absences

According to the Placer County Health Officer, it is no longer necessary for someone who has been in contact with a person who has COVID-19 to quarantine for 14 days. This applies to the general public, as well as health care workers and first responders. However, exposed persons should self-monitor for respiratory symptoms and fever. If they develop symptoms, they should stay home in order to protect those who are well for 72 hours after symptoms resolve or 7 days after symptoms began, whichever is longer.

Thank you for allowing us to serve you and your children.  We will do everything in our power to keep them safe, loved, and learning. We look forward to seeing our students at school tomorrow morning.
