  • The 2016-2017 school year may be wrapping up, but don’t let next year sneak up on you! Hop online to complete your Returning Student Registration brought to you by PowerSchool.

Visit https://rcsdk8.powerschool.com/public to complete this process in the most painless, paperless way yet! The PowerSchool app, (available for Apple and Android), will also allow you to stay connected to your students’ progress.

  • We still have space in our TK-Kindergarten classes, and we want to see your students in our classrooms next year! Bring your backpacks, carry the crayons, snag some snacks, and pick up those pencils… it’s time to hop on the RCSD train to educational excellence. Register early before spaces fill up! Visit rcsdk8.org for more information.

  • Prepared to up your family’s technology game? Bring school technology into your home with the Parent Purchasing Program! Principal Spotlight
Marc Welty
Kaseberg Elementary School

My favorite part about working in education is... being able to draw a student in that hasn't been engaged with school before. Sometimes students come to school without having made strong connections just yet and soon they realize that we care and want to engage all students.

My favorite type of books to read are… C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien books -- fun, fantasy books that take me back to my childhood!

My favorite Kaseberg tradition is... wearing our red spirit shirts with our hawk or Angry Bird logo on Fridays, as well as our College Wear Wednesdays. One of my favorite new traditions is helping students create a broadcast bulletin to inform students weekly.

My education background... I attended California State University, Fresno, where I majored in History; then, I earned my Master's Degree in Education with a Teaching Credential from National University. I also attended California State University, Sacramento, to earn my Administrative Credential.

Hobbies... I love coaching my boys in sports! My favorite sport to coach is basketball. I am also a guitar and mandolin player and spend a lot of my free time learning about the latest technology and education practices.

Family... My wife's name is Julie, and we have three sons: Kyle (16), Tim (13), and Matt (11).

Keep up with Mr. Welty and the Kaseberg Hawks on Facebook!

Have Lunch With Us!

Every summer, RCSD is proud to host our Summer Feeding Program sponsored by the USDA. The program will run Monday through Friday from June 19th through July 28th and is available for all children under the age of 18. Campuses serving the lunches, at varying times, include Antelope Christian Academy, Cirby, Crestmont and Roseville Police Activities League (RPAL), while Kaseberg and Barrett Ranch will offer both breakfast and lunch.

Our goal is to read 100,000 books as a community! Program ends on Saturday, August 5th. The Summer Reading Program is sponsored by the Friends of the Roseville Public Library.

Superintendent's Corner

The end of each school year is always reflective for me. As I look back at the 2016-2017 year, two words come to mind: progress and pride.

RCSD has been proud to engage in new endeavors, journeys, and adventures this year. We worked diligently on limiting our environmental footprint by introducing a paperless registration system, PowerSchool. This venture is a win-win-win for us, our RCSD parents, and the environment. If you haven’t already, I encourage you to become familiar with PowerSchool. Download the app today, and stay up-to-date on your students’ progress.

I look around in awe at the progress our District has made this year. From the building of Eich’s exclusive student ballroom, and the improvement of Sargeant’s landscaping to the construction of Orchard Ranch Elementary School, I feel lucky to be part of such a progressive, healthy, and growing RCSD family.

Lastly, as I reflect on the changes our District is seeing, I feel a sense of pride. This summer, we say goodbye to some of our most respected and seasoned staff as they begin a new chapter in their lives: retirement. Their lasting influence on the District and our students leaves a legacy that will live on for years. I cannot thank them enough for being part of the foundation that makes our District so great. They will be missed!

We must also bid adieu to many beloved students as they continue their education within the high school district. Armed with strong minds and an eager work ethic, we know our RCSD alumni are ready for their high school years! I am proud to see them move on, and I am excited for their future.

I leave you with three more words to conclude our school year: Enjoy your summer!

As always, I welcome parents and families to contact me with any questions, or concerns. You  can always reach me at dgarcia@rcsdk8.orgor follow my updates via Twitter
