Student Registration 2022-2023

Yep, it's that time again! This year’s priority registration window runs from January 3 through January 28, 2022, and we’re encouraging all families to register early. This helps secure your students' seats and allows us to optimally staff our classrooms and school sites. Head to this link to register beginning January 3.
Update from our Maintenance Team

Has our Maintenance team been busy? You bet! From spending extra time restriping and sealing blacktops and parking lots to ensuring play structures are safe, our crew tends to each of our school sites with tender, loving care.

Not all of their projects are "business as usual" though. Check out the colorful alphabet striping at Junction, the fresh rubber playground matting at Orchard Ranch, and the newly laid asphalt at Kaseberg!
RCSD Foundation News
PIE Grants Awarded

In November, the RCSDF presented a $9,000+ check to fund grants to ambitious RCSD teachers who bring supplemental STEAM enrichment to their classrooms. The annual RCSDF Pie Grant program commits $15,000 each year to fund classroom programs that go above and beyond the District budget. Each year, this program demonstrates the heart, resourcefulness, and creativity teachers bring to RCSD students.

At the December 15 Board meeting, RCSDF President Renee Perez presented a $5,700 check to the District to fund four more partners in education at RCSD schools. Congratulations to the following recipients and their programs:
  • Deanna Ponseti of Eich Middle School - Makey Makey, electronic invention kits for her 7th-grade class
  • Kimberly Montgomery of Sargeant Elementary School - "Who We Are" self-portrait painting for her 3rd-grade class
  • Lisa Little Villela of Eich Middle School - Community Garden project for her Special Education students
  • Rachael Conway, Assistant Principal of Buljan Middle School - Rehabilitation of the school's community garden with 7th-grade students
As we begin to raise funds for next school year, please join us Monday, May 9, 2022 at Sierra View Country Club for a golf tournament fundraiser. Stay tuned for details here!
Tommy Apostolos Fund News

Every December for the past 30+ years, the Tommy Apostolos shopping spree has purchased new clothes and shoes for children in need. This year’s shopping spree provided essentials for approximately 500 RCSD kids!

Students are referred by their teacher on the basis of need and volunteers comb the aisles of Kohl's in Roseville to snag the necessities that children need. While volunteers typically get to shop alongside students, volunteers have begun shopping alone to encourage safe distancing and protect our students. Thank you to all the RCSD teachers, staff, and board members who stepped up to shop for our students! To learn more, visit tommyafund.com.
Hiring News

You bet we’re hiring! As a growing district, we are thrilled to provide jobs to many RCSD family members and members of our local community. While we have full-time positions available such as Information Systems Technician at the District office, we also offer part-time roles that may align with your child’s school hours. We know it’s a challenge to balance work with raising a family, so roles like Instructional Assistant and Cafeteria Site Cashier may offer hours that will allow you to pick up and drop off your child at school with time to breathe. We have open positions available that range in flexibility. Check out our open positions at edjoin.org/RCSDK8. We’d love to have you join our #RCSDChampions family!
Superintendent's Corner

Our students are bubbling over with excitement, staff members are decked out in their most festive holiday gear and my house is filled with too many sweets! This holiday season feels extra special with a renewed sense of gratitude and joy. While I’ll miss our staff and students who are spending time with their families during winter break, I’m looking forward to hearing the stories of family gatherings, magical memories, hugs with grandparents, and all of the traditions that make this season so memorable. This year, I’m hopeful that we all get the chance to unplug and spend these special moments with our nearest and dearest family and friends.

I want to take a moment to wish you a lovely holiday season. RCSD families celebrate many different holidays this time of the year and I would like to acknowledge the significance of your personal traditions. As you celebrate Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Christmas, and/or New Year’s, we wish you nothing but the best of holidays, this year and every year.

Sincerely,

Derk Garcia
Superintendent
