RIDE SMART Roseville
RIDE SMART Roseville
Safe choices. Shared responsibility. Safer routes for everyone.
Roseville City School District, in partnership with the Roseville Police Department and the City of Roseville’s Safe Routes to School program, is launching RIDE SMART Roseville, a community-wide safety campaign focused on the responsible use of electric bicycles, electric scooters, and other electric mobility devices.
More students are using e-devices to travel to and from school. These devices can provide independence and a convenient way to get around, but they also require good judgment, an understanding of traffic rules, and a shared commitment to safety.
RIDE SMART Roseville brings schools, families, students, the City, and law enforcement together around one consistent message: Ride safely. Follow the rules. Respect others. Arrive ready to learn.
A Simple, Student-Friendly Framework: RIDE SMART
R – Rules First
Know and follow California Vehicle Code laws for e-bikes and scooters.
I – Inspect Your Gear
Always check your helmet, brakes, lights, and tires before you ride.
D – Designated Paths
Use approved bike lanes, shared paths, and Safe Routes mapped routes.
E – Eyes Up, Hands Ready
Stay alert to cars, pedestrians, signals, and surface hazards.
S – Slow Down Safely
Keep your speed appropriate for conditions and people around you and try to prevent sudden stops.
M – Mind Others
Yield to pedestrians, respect crossings, and ride predictably.
A – Always Wear a Helmet
Protect your head – no exceptions.
R – Respect the Rules
Obey stop signs, signals, crosswalks, and the law.
T – Teach & Share
Talk with family and friends about safe riding – be a role model.
What is an E-Device?
For the purpose of this campaign, the term e-device includes
electric bicycles, electric scooters, and similar motorized
mobility devices students may use to travel to and from
school.
Different devices may be subject to different age, equipment,
licensing, passenger, and roadway requirements. Families are
responsible for understanding the laws and manufacturer
guidelines that apply to the specific device their student uses.
