May Means a Strong Finish!

May means many things at RCSD. The school year is winding down, the weather is beautiful and we’re celebrating Staff Appreciation Week throughout the first week of May. Why do we celebrate staff during this week if we truly appreciate them all year long? Well, because they deserve it. This week, RCSD staff are celebrated across the district and throughout each of our departments. It takes a whole lot of us to provide the services, programs, facilities and resources it takes to support nearly 12,000 students.

Our Maintenance and Facilities Department keep our buildings and grounds safe, clean and repaired and updated, as needed. There’s a lot of elbow grease that goes into their work and we appreciate every effort. Our Nutrition Services Department keeps our students fed and healthy during the school year and throughout each summer. Our office admins are the first to share a smile when you walk through the door and our bus drivers bookend their students’ day with cheer and kindness. From the playgrounds to the classrooms, from the cafeteria to the office, and every department and site in between, our staff is the backbone of our district. Thank you for all that you do day in and day out for Roseville’s students. If you see an RCSD staff member, please share your appreciation with them!

As the last day of school comes creeping up on our calendars, I’ve looked back over this school year with a few thoughts. Together, as a district and a community, we’ve sailed many a stormy day. This school year has made me very proud of the progress we’ve made and I see the results in our students. They’re resilient and flexible, they give us grace even when we don’t know what’s coming next. This is because so many of us have demonstrated to them the value of being able to weather the storm together. I’d like to thank you, the families and community, for your support and grace during this school year. Things may not have been perfect, but we sailed uncharted waters and identified ways we can improve upon education and provide options for our students.

While this is nearly the end of our school year, this progress is really just beginning. I’m looking forward to rolling up my sleeves with our Board of Education and staff this summer as we develop more ways to bring our best into the classroom next year. And we can’t wait to see how much our students have grown. Thank you for letting us be such an integral part of the lives of these children. It’s an honor we at RCSD cherish each day.
