Roseville City School District

Superintendent’s Message
January, 2019

Article

A new year signifies a blank slate and an opportunity to start fresh with goals. While most feel a renewed sense of purpose with a new calendar year, those of us in education acknowledge our year really starts with the school year. January is the time when both of those calendars come together. As we welcome 2019, our district is already preparing for the 2019 – 2020 school year. Yes, that’s right! It’s time to enroll new, returning and transferring students.

Open enrollment for transfers begins January 4, 2019, and continues through January 29, 2019, while online registration for all new and returning students begins January 8, 2019. Forms and additional information can be found on the district website at rcsdk8.org.

Roseville City School District is recognized as one of the state’s highest performing districts. We are growing and serving more transitional kindergarten through 8th grade students than ever before. In fact, with our continued growth in west Roseville, we open our doors and arms to new families nearly every day.

Our district is distinguished by the programs available to our students. We offer International Baccalaureate, Project Lead The Way, AVID, Positive Behavior Intervention and Support, as well as a districtwide music education program funded by the Roseville City School District Foundation. We proudly offer small class sizes, prioritize safe learning environments and foster academic excellence for each of our students.

As our student enrollment expands, so does our need for highly qualified and inspirational staff to lead our children. Throughout the year, we invest in customized professional development and we offer one of the highest salary schedules in the state. The district was proud to be able to offer a raise to each of our educators this year.

We are looking for more talented staff to join our family! We are hosting a job fair at the district office at 1050 Main Street in Roseville on January 14 from 3 – 5 PM. Attendees will meet staff from each school site while learning about career growth, position offerings, teacher induction support and other perks to joining our #RCSDChampions team. Our district is looking for multiple and single subject teachers, special education teachers, instructional assistants, custodians and more. Bring resumes copies and join us for an afternoon of fun as we learn what the 2019 – 2020 school year holds for us!

Respectfully,

Derk Garcia
