LCAP — What’s That?

Roseville City School District (RCSD) embraces the vital role it plays as your partner in education. We rely on input to identify the needs of our students and how best to serve them to get the most out of their education. This means your thoughts are key in developing and providing feedback on programs, policies, and resources in support of our students. RCSD encourages you to participate in an annual Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) Parent Survey. The LCAP is the district’s overall vision for students, annual goals and specific actions the district will take to achieve the vision and goals.

The Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) is hallmark legislation that fundamentally changed how all school districts in the state are funded, how they are measured for results and the services and supports they receive to allow all students to succeed to their greatest potential. The LCAP Survey allows RCSD to gather information about our educational environment, conditions of learning, student achievement outcomes, engagement and safety through the lens of parents and guardians. The LCAP Parent Committee will analyze the results of the survey and make recommendations to the Board of Education. Participation allows community and parent engagement in the district budget and planning process, helping determine our priorities.

For example, as a direct result of last year’s LCAP feedback from RCSD families, the district wrote and was funded for a grant to staff a social worker and community liaison at two of our four middle schools. Another outcome of this feedback is that all 1st through 4th graders are provided a computer typing program to increase their ability to type and utilize a computer.

You have the opportunity to create a lasting impact on your child’s local school district with your input through this survey. The survey is anonymous and can be completed online in just 10 minutes. Each participant is vital to the final outcome of LCAP. We appreciate your investment in our students and our community. Again, your partnership is essential to the quality of the educational environment we provide our #RCSDChampions.
